I’ve been asked a few times now why we went for the Titan LT when the Ronin 2 has served us so well. Fair question. The honest answer is the Ronin 2 did something brilliant for us, it got a three camera array into the air. At 9.2kg the whole package flies on a heavy lift drone and that’s still exactly how we do our drone work. Nothing about that changes.
On the ground though it was a different story. Every time we built the bigger configs, especially the 4-way, we were right up against the payload limit. Not over it, but close enough that you’re thinking about it constantly. Counterweights, cable routing, how hard you can whip the head before it complains. You end up spending energy managing the gimbal instead of shooting.
The Titan LT gives us 40lbs of payload, roughly 18kg. That’s not a small bump, that’s a different category. Four KOMODO-X bodies, four lenses, Teradek, ND, power, all of it on the head with room to spare. It also takes the same baseplate as the Ronin 2 so our whole mounting workflow carried straight over, which saved us a lot of faff.
The bit I’m most excited about is definately the wheels. We now have a proper operator station with hand wheels for the DOP. If you’ve operated a geared head you know why that matters, and if you’ve ever tried to frame a 185° array on a joystick you REALLY know why that matters. Framing decisions on a multi camera rig are big decisions. You want precision.

So that’s the thinking. Ronin 2 for the air, Titan LT for everything on the ground and on vehicles. Both are available to hire, with the array or as seperate items. Get in touch if you want to talk it through.
