VFX Array
Special
Powers
Machined from the ground up, Wonderfilm’s 3-Way VFX Array is equipped with three RED KOMODO-X cameras and three ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD lenses. The cameras are light weight and capable of capturing approx. 15K, 160° FOV plates up to 80 FPS with a stunning level of detail for CGI shots. Teradek’s wireless ecosystem enables monitoring, lens control, & R/S from 1500 ft away.
RED KOMODO-X
Central to our ultra light weight VFX array platform are the three RED KOMODO-X cameras which capture a stunning level of detail with a 6K sensor at 80 FPS and 16.5+ stops of dynamic range.
ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD Lenses
The best imaging capability and VFX plate composition are made possible with three identical ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD lenses. Stitching is reliable and lens distortions can be mapped using ZEISS’s XD technology.
160° FOV
We manufactured our VFX Array to achieve maximum coverage from the RED KOMODO-X 6K sensor and the ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD lenses, producing a combined 65.5° FOV per camera.
27.9% FOV Overlap
We applied our expertise gained from working on large-scale VFX shows to the design of our VFX Array. With the needs of large VFX vendors in mind, material from our array includes a 27.9% FOV overlap for reliable, perfect stitching.
Teradek Wireless Monitoring, Lens control
Our production-ready VFX Array rig is designed for big shows. A testament to this is the Teradek Bolt 6 ecosystem designed to make wireless monitoring, lens control, & R/S fully operationally up to 1500 ft.
Timecode / Genlock Sync
Our multicam system uses shared timecode and genlock synchronization across all cameras, ensuring precise frame-level alignment, sync, and seamless integration into professional post-production workflows.
15K Stitched Plate
Arranged in a horizontal configuration, three RED KOMODO-X cameras—each equipped with a 19.9MP sensor and an effective resolution of 6144 × 3240—produce a stitched plate approximately 15,008 × 3240 pixels in size, incorporating a 27.9% horizontal field-of-view overlap (18.25° between adjacent cameras).
Custom built
Drone
Array
Weight isn’t just a spec — it’s the whole problem when every kilogram costs flight time. Wonderfilm’s RED KOMODO-X VFX Array was re-engineered for drone deployment from the ground up, delivering three synchronised cameras, full wireless control and frame-accurate sync at just 9.2kg — light enough for heavy-lift platforms like the DJI Alta X, without cutting a single feature a DOP would expect on the ground.
9.2KG
Wonderfilm’s drone-configured array weighs just 9.2kg — an incredibly lighter system — giving DOPs meaningfully more flight time on heavy-lift platforms like the DJI Alta X.
Engineered for Drone Deployment
Purpose-built to solve the biggest challenge in aerial VFX capture — weight. A three-camera array light enough to fly, without cutting a single feature.
More Flight Time, Less Compromise
Every kilogram saved is flight time gained. Careful centre-of-gravity engineering reduces counterbalance weight without sacrificing multicam control, sync, or image quality.
Fits the DJI Ronin 2, Built for Heavy-Lift Drones
Compact and lightweight enough for the Ronin 2 3-axis stabiliser, robust enough for heavy-lift drone platforms carrying three synchronised RED KOMODO-X cameras.
Clean Compositing
Made
for VFX / VP
We have a black book of Lead VFX Compositors, 3D Riggers, Matchmove Artists, DMP Artists, and Tracking Specialists. When designing our array, we made sure that the deliverables met the requirements of vendors we work with. The horizontal camera configuration was engineered to include a 27.9% field-of-view overlap—equating to 18.25° of shared coverage between each pair of adjacent cameras
27.9% FOV

Zero Compromise
Weight came out of the assembly, not the imaging chain. The drone configuration carries the same three RED KOMODO-X bodies and the same matched ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD lens set as the ground rig, delivering identical 160° coverage, 27.9% overlap and extended lens data for undistortion in post.
OUT OF CTRL.5
Teradek’s CTRL.5 is the ultimate handset we use for reliable, accurate control and tuning of multiple cameras and lenses at once. We can adjust exposure, focus, R/S and more.
Remote, Everything
We know all about the demands of a full-scale production such as Fast & Furious 9. Using the Teradek Bolt 6 LT 1500 TX/RX Deluxe kit alongside the CTRL.5 Controller, our production-ready rig is geared up for all on-set scenarios. Operational from a 1500 ft distance, the Teradek ecosystem enables multi-lens iris/focus control, run/stop triggering, and multi-camera wireless playback.
Nimble Enough
Our configuration is small and light enough to fit on the DJI Ronin 2 3-Axis stabiliser. For use on heavy lifter drones or on larger stabiliser heads such as the Freefly Mōvi XL.
Full turnkey solution.
The kit arrives on set like this – a full turnkey solution ready to shoot in under 30 mins. A clean set up that can be assembled by us or handed to an operator.
Tech Spec
Every array assembly is designed and built in-house, so the configuration is matched to the job rather than the other way round. Whether the rig is going onto a gimbal, a heavy-lift drone, a tracking vehicle or a static mount, we can build or adapt an assembly to suit the payload, the platform and the shot.
Components are machined from aluminium sheet, with thickness selected for the application — lighter where every kilogram costs flight time, heavier where the rig has to take load on the ground. The standard Ronin 2 configuration sits comfortably inside the gimbal’s maximum payload, accessories included.
All our assemblies are lined with M4, 1/4″-20 and 3/8″ mounting threads for effectively unlimited mounting options, and each carries a detachable custom cheese plate at the base for additional mounting and threading.
If a shoot calls for a configuration we don’t already hold, talk to us. The assemblies are our own design, so we can build to the requirement.
