Lewis Andrews was brought on board for the 2022 TV Series The Man Who Fell to Earth (CBS Studios) as a VFX Coordinator to develop a comprehensive FileMaker database tailored for managing VFX shots and streamlining post-production workflows involving multiple vendors. The project involved ongoing work and encompassed various tasks, including facilitating communication among visual effects artists, overseeing vendor bidding processes, and ensuring the overall organisation of post-production activities.
Lewis Andrews’ appointment as VFX Coordinator on this project came through the VFX Producer, who had previously worked on the James Bond franchise No Time to Die.
The database Lewis Andrews designed and implemented had several key functionalities. It seamlessly integrated thumbnails for each pending VFX shot, provided detailed information about proposed work, offered budget, and bidding details, and assigned unique VFX shot numbers. Additionally, it had a built-in feature that accurately tracked the number of shots currently in production. This database enhanced the efficiency and coordination of the VFX workflow throughout the project.
As a Bowie fan, this project holds a special place in Lewis Andrews’ heart, as it pays homage to David Bowie’s original artistry in his iconic The Man Who Fell To Earth 1976 film.
