Flavourmag Interview: Lewis Andrews

Lewis Andrews is a film director whose career began early and moved fast. At 15, he shot his first short film in his living room, teaching himself lighting, directing and editing on a DSLR. That hands-on, problem-solving approach still defines his work today.

By his early twenties, Lewis founded Wonderfilm Pictures and started directing music videos, commercials and short films, building a client list that includes Nike, Puma, Sony and Vogue, alongside a wide range of artists and agencies. His work is defined by strong visual identity, efficient execution and a cinematic mindset shaped by years of studying how films are made, not just how they look.

Lewis’ productions lean into bold concepts and tight logistics. The Ebru Ellis “Blocks” video, for example, was developed, planned and shot across multiple London locations in just seven days using RED digital cinema cameras. Projects like this demonstrate his ability to build high-impact visuals quickly and with precise control.

Early business missteps—working with people who took advantage of his ambition—sharpened his instincts and helped him establish a more focused, professional workflow. Those experiences now influence how he chooses collaborators and protects the quality of his output.

Today, Lewis continues to direct high-concept music videos and commercial work while developing longer-form ideas. His goal is straightforward: move into feature filmmaking and create work with clarity, scale and purpose. He cites Spielberg, Cameron and Scorsese as key influences—not for style, but for their command of storytelling and technical craft.
