The Canon EF 17–40mm F4L USM is a professional L-series wide-angle zoom lens designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount cameras. Its flexible focal range and constant F4 aperture make it a practical option for landscapes, interiors, architecture, production photography and general location work.
Fast ring-type USM autofocus, full-time manual focus control and a compact weather-resistant design make the lens suitable for demanding film and television environments. Three aspherical elements and Super UD glass keep distortion and chromatic aberration low across the zoom range.

At roughly 475g it is light enough for gimbal, drone and handheld use, and on an APS-C body such as the Canon EOS 7D it gives an equivalent field of view of about 27–64mm.
