FAQ

We will provide a bespoke quote for each job. Please send an email to lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com, with details such as the duration of the job.

The kit uses VFX balls with one chrome half and one grey half. The ball is rotated during capture to record the required reference angle.
You can expect a 160° FOV from the array, with 27.9% FOV overlap for reliable plate stitching.
We can look at creating a configuration for 360 capture. Please email lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com to discuss the shoot requirements.
International hire is a normal part of our work. Approximately 90% of our projects are outside the UK, and the array rig can travel globally.
When not on a shoot, the kit is based in the UK. We plan transport and shipping so it can support EU and international productions.
A technician is included with the standard array package for kit supervision. Depending on the shoot, ACs can manage the rig, and the Ronin 2 setup can be handed over to an operator.
We can process the array material after filming and output deliverables based on the VFX vendor’s technical requirements.
At the moment, we do not offer live stitching. We can provide live playback through a Teradek Bolt 6 1500 so the camera feeds can be viewed without overlap.
The lens coverage on KOMODO-X 6K is approximately 65.5° horizontal FOV and 37.5° vertical FOV.
Yes, extended lens data is available from the ZEISS lenses we use, including the 21mm lenses, and can be used for distortion mapping and undistortion workflows.
A technical spec sheet for the RED KOMODO-X VFX Array Rig is available on the array page.

VFX Array Rig Hire in Brighton and Sussex

We support Brighton, Hove, Shoreham, Worthing, Eastbourne and the wider south coast, covering the BN postcode areas. Our inventory includes cinema cameras, lenses, wireless video systems, VFX kit and grip packages for both location and studio-based productions.

The coast offers some of the most recognisable exterior locations in the south. The Seven Sisters and Beachy Head draw commercials and plate units for their chalk cliffs and open horizons, Shoreham Airport’s art deco terminal is a long-standing period filming location, and Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, Regency terraces and seafront cover everything from fashion campaigns to music videos. Goodwood and Arundel Castle sit within easy reach for automotive and heritage work.

Coastal shoots bring their own demands. Light changes quickly over water, tide windows are short, and sea and sky together push a camera’s dynamic range hard. The RED KOMODO-X handles this with 16.5+ stops, and our array arrives as a turnkey build that can be shooting within thirty minutes — useful when a golden-hour window is the whole shot. All kit is prepped and tested for salt air and sand before it leaves us.

VFX Array rigs and VFX Ball kits suit coastal location work, clean plate capture and HDRI lighting reference, and are commonly used on commercials, fashion shoots and music videos. The array produces 15K stitched plates across a 160° field of view with 27.9% overlap, which works well for sea and horizon backplates, set extension and virtual production content. The chrome and grey reference balls capture accurate on-set lighting data for compositors working the material afterwards.

Brighton is around an hour from our Chelsea base via the A23 and M23, so kit can reach the coast for an early call without an overnight. We deliver to unit bases, production offices and location sets across Brighton, Hove and the wider Sussex coast.
