The kit uses VFX balls with one chrome half and one grey half. The ball is rotated during capture to record the required reference angle.
You can expect a 160° FOV from the array, with 27.9% FOV overlap for reliable plate stitching.
We can look at creating a configuration for 360 capture. Please email lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com to discuss the shoot requirements.
International hire is a normal part of our work. Approximately 90% of our projects are outside the UK, and the array rig can travel globally.
When not on a shoot, the kit is based in the UK. We plan transport and shipping so it can support EU and international productions.
A technician is included with the standard array package for kit supervision. Depending on the shoot, ACs can manage the rig, and the Ronin 2 setup can be handed over to an operator.
We can process the array material after filming and output deliverables based on the VFX vendor’s technical requirements.
At the moment, we do not offer live stitching. We can provide live playback through a Teradek Bolt 6 1500 so the camera feeds can be viewed without overlap.
The lens coverage on KOMODO-X 6K is approximately 65.5° horizontal FOV and 37.5° vertical FOV.
Yes, extended lens data is available from the ZEISS lenses we use, including the 21mm lenses, and can be used for distortion mapping and undistortion workflows.
A technical spec sheet for the RED KOMODO-X VFX Array Rig is available on the array page.
