Our chrome and grey reference is combined into a single split-finish ball. You rotate it for the camera to capture the chrome and grey sides.
Our array capture is 160° FOV, with 27.9% overlap between the fields of view for stitch reliability.
We can explore different array setups for 360-degree work. Please get in touch at lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com with your requirements.
Wonderfilm Pictures can provide kit rentals worldwide. International work makes up around 90% of what we do, including array rig hires.
Yes, EU productions can hire the kit. Although it is UK-based during downtime, we plan logistics for equipment movement worldwide.
The array hire includes a technician for supervision as standard. We also have AC contacts for on-set rig management, and the Ronin 2 array can be handed over to an operator.
We offer post-shoot plate processing for array material, with deliverables prepared to the required VFX vendor specification.
We do not live stitch the camera feeds at present. However, live playback is available through a Teradek Bolt 6 1500, showing the array cameras without overlap.
The ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD produces about 65.5° horizontal FOV and 37.5° vertical FOV on KOMODO-X 6K.
The ZEISS 21mm lenses provide extended lens data that can be used in VFX workflows for distortion mapping and undistortion. A ZEISS/Nuke plugin workflow is also available.
The RED KOMODO-X array technical details are published on the array page.

VFX Array Rig Hire in Bristol

We cover Bristol and the surrounding region, including Redland, Montpelier, Clifton, Bedminster and the city centre, across the BS postcode areas. We supply wireless video systems, camera bodies, lenses, VFX kit and grip equipment for both location and studio shoots.

Bristol is the centre of natural history and factual film-making in the UK. The BBC Natural History Unit and the independent wildlife producers around it have made the city the default home for landmark documentary, and that work now leans heavily on CG — creature builds, extinct species, environments that no longer exist. Accurate on-set reference is what makes those shots work.

That work depends on accurate on-set reference. Our chrome and grey VFX balls capture lighting data from the location itself, the ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses supply extended data for distortion mapping and undistortion, and the RED KOMODO-X VFX Array records 15K stitched plates across a 160° field of view with 27.9% overlap for background and environment capture.

Beyond documentary, The Bottle Yard Studios carries scripted drama and returning series, and Aardman has kept a large animation and post community in the city. Clifton, the harbourside and the Victorian terraces of Totterdown and Montpelier give varied exteriors, and Bath is half an hour east for period work. The Mendips, Cheddar Gorge and the Somerset Levels are within easy reach for landscape and aerial capture.

The array can be flown in its 9.2kg drone configuration for aerial plates, or rigged to a gimbal or tracking vehicle on the ground. It arrives as a turnkey build ready to shoot in under thirty minutes.

Bristol is around two hours from our base in London via the M4, and we deliver to studios, production offices, unit bases and location sets across the city and the wider South West.
