VFX Array Rig Hire in Cambridge

We cover Cambridge and the surrounding areas, including the city centre, the colleges, the science parks and the rural villages beyond. Our inventory includes cinema cameras, lenses, wireless video systems, VFX kit and grip equipment for commercial, academic and factual productions across the region.

Cambridge produces an unusual mix of work. The Science Park, Granta Park and the Biomedical Campus generate corporate, product and pharmaceutical films, while the colleges, the Backs and Grantchester support period drama and factual filming. King’s College Chapel, Trinity Great Court and the river have appeared on screen for decades, and Ely Cathedral, Wimpole Estate and IWM Duxford are all within easy reach for heritage and aviation shoots.

Filming in the colleges brings real constraints: access windows are short, permissions are tightly managed and heavy rigging is often not an option. Our array arrives as a turnkey build ready to shoot in under thirty minutes, and the Teradek Bolt 6 system gives wireless monitoring and lens control at up to 1500 feet — useful in courts, chapels and laboratories where crew numbers and cabling have to stay minimal.

The Fen landscape around the city gives flat horizons and large skies, which suits background plate capture and set extension work. Our RED KOMODO-X VFX Array records a 160° field of view at 15K with 27.9% overlap, and the drone configuration weighs 9.2kg for aerial plates over open country.

VFX Array systems and VFX Ball kits support CGI lighting reference and background plate workflows for VFX-heavy and digital environment productions. The chrome and grey reference balls capture accurate on-set lighting data for compositors, and the ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses supply extended lens data for distortion mapping and undistortion in post.

Cambridge is a straight run up the M11 from our Chelsea base, so kit can reach the city for an early call without an overnight.
