FAQ

We will provide a bespoke quote for each job. Please send an email to lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com, with details such as the duration of the job.

Our VFX balls use a half-chrome, half-grey design. This lets the camera record both references from the same object by rotating the ball.
The KOMODO-X array is configured for 160° FOV capture with 27.9% FOV overlap.
We can create more array configurations for specific VFX needs. Email lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com with the 360 rig brief.
We work with productions around the world, with roughly 90% of our work taking place internationally. Kit rental can be arranged globally.
Wonderfilm Pictures kit is based in the UK between hires. We coordinate transport and shipping for productions in the EU and internationally.
The array is normally overseen by a technician included in the package. We can also coordinate with ACs who are able to manage the rig during filming.
Yes. We can create post-shoot deliverables from the array footage to match the requirements of the VFX vendor.
Our setup includes live playback rather than live stitching. Playback is streamed through a Teradek Bolt 6 1500 so all cameras on the array can be viewed without overlap.
On the KOMODO-X 6K sensor, the ZEISS 21mm CP.3 XD coverage is around 65.5° horizontal by 37.5° vertical.
Extended lens data from the ZEISS lenses can be used in post for distortion mapping and undistortion. This includes the 21mm lenses and a ZEISS/Nuke plugin workflow.
Yes, we have a spec for the RED KOMODO-X VFX Array Rig, available on the array page.

VFX Array Rig Hire on the M4 Corridor

We serve Reading, Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor, Wokingham and the surrounding towns along the M4 corridor, covering the RG, SL and parts of the TW postcode areas. Our inventory includes cinema cameras, lens packages, wireless video systems, VFX kit and grip equipment for productions of all scales working across Berkshire and West London.

This is the densest concentration of studio infrastructure in the country. Pinewood Studios at Iver Heath sits at the centre of it, with Shepperton a short run down the M25 and Bray near Windsor. Black Park and Burnham Beeches have doubled for forests and period exteriors for decades, and Windsor Great Park, Cliveden, Dorney and Ascot cover heritage, estate and event filming.

The area’s other advantage is Heathrow. Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead are minutes from the airport, which matters when kit is flying out with a unit or arriving from an overseas production. We handle carnet paperwork, secure fully insured shipping and pre-flight testing, and can meet an incoming crew close to the terminal rather than routing everything through central London first.

VFX Array rigs and VFX Ball reference kits suit shoots requiring HDRI lighting capture, clean plate photography and digital environment reference, which makes them particularly useful for virtual production prep and CG-heavy workflows. With stages in the area running LED volume and pre-visualisation work, plate material captured on location can be turned around and reviewed close to the shoot.

Productions based west of London often choose the region for its access to both open countryside and controlled locations. Our RED KOMODO-X VFX Array delivers 15K stitched plates across a 160° field of view with 27.9% overlap, and the 9.2kg drone configuration allows aerial plate capture over the Thames Valley and Chilterns.

We deliver to studios, production offices, unit bases and location sets throughout Berkshire and the M4 corridor.
