Each VFX ball is built with 50% chrome and 50% grey, allowing the camera to capture both references by rotating the ball.
The array covers 160° FOV and includes a 27.9% FOV overlap to help maintain a strong stitching workflow.
Custom array configurations are possible depending on the brief. Contact lewis@wonderfilmpictures.com to discuss what is needed for 360 coverage.
Yes, we can supply equipment for overseas shoots. Around 90% of our work is international, including VFX Array rentals.
The VFX kit is generally stored in the UK during down periods. We then plan the hire logistics so it can travel wherever the shoot requires.
We provide technical support with the array package. The kit can be supervised by our technician, managed by suitable ACs, or handed over as a turnkey Ronin 2 array.
Yes, Wonderfilm Pictures can process captured array plates after the shoot and deliver files to the VFX vendor’s spec.
The array does not currently support real-time stitching from us. It does provide live playback via Teradek Bolt 6 1500 for monitoring all cameras without overlap.
The ZEISS 21mm is approximately 65.5° horizontal and 37.5° vertical when used on the RED KOMODO-X 6K sensor.
Yes. ZEISS extended data can assist with distortion correction workflows, and the 21mm lenses we use can support distortion mapping and undistortion, including via ZEISS/Nuke plugin workflows.
Yes, the full VFX Array specifications are available to review on the array page.

VFX Array Rig Hire for West London Studios

We cover Central London locations including Soho, Fitzrovia, Covent Garden, Clerkenwell, South Bank and the City, across the W1, WC1, WC2 and EC postcode areas. We provide wireless video solutions, compact grip setups and high-end camera systems suited to controlled or restricted shooting environments.

Central London is the hardest part of the city to shoot in. Permits are tightly controlled, unit parking is scarce, load-in windows are short and vehicle access is shaped by congestion and emissions zones. Kit that needs a truck, a crew and an hour to build is the wrong kit for a Soho street or a City courtyard.

Our array is built for that constraint. It arrives as a turnkey package ready to shoot in under thirty minutes, travels in a single flight case, and runs on the Teradek Bolt 6 ecosystem for wireless monitoring and lens control at up to 1500 feet — so a rig can sit on a rooftop, a bridge or a pavement without cabling back to a base.

Central London is also where the work goes afterwards. Soho and Fitzrovia hold the densest concentration of post houses, VFX vendors and advertising agencies in the country, and plates shot in the morning can be with a compositor the same day. Our deliverables are prepared to the vendor’s requested specification, and the ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses supply extended lens data for distortion mapping and undistortion so material lands in a usable state.

VFX Array and VFX Ball hire is available for commercial, digital and editorial shoots needing precise lighting capture, clean passes or reference plates. Our base is on Lower Sloane Street in Chelsea, a short run from Westminster, the South Bank and the West End, so kit can reach a location for an early call or be swapped mid-shoot.
